Planning a full house rewire in Blackpool? We break down costs for 1-bed flats to 5-bed houses, what's included, and how long it takes.

House Rewiring Costs in Blackpool

A full house rewire in Blackpool costs between £2,500 and £7,500 depending on the size and complexity of the property. A 1-bedroom flat starts at £2,500–£3,500. A 2-bedroom terraced house is £3,500–£4,500. A 3-bedroom semi-detached costs £4,500–£5,500. A 4-bedroom detached house ranges from £5,500–£6,500. A 5-bedroom or larger property can be £6,500–£7,500+. These prices include all materials, labour, testing, plastering repairs and Part P certification.

What's Included in a Full Rewire?

A complete rewire includes removing all old cables and accessories, installing new twin and earth cabling throughout, fitting a new metal consumer unit with RCD protection, installing new sockets, switches, light fittings and downlights, adding USB sockets if requested, upgrading earthing and bonding to current standards, full testing and certification, and making good plasterwork where channels were cut. It does NOT include decorating — you'll need to paint or wallpaper after we finish.

How Long Does a Full Rewire Take?

Rewiring times depend on property size and whether the property is occupied or empty. A 2-bedroom terraced house takes 5–7 days. A 3-bedroom semi takes 7–10 days. A 4-bedroom detached takes 10–14 days. If the property is occupied, we work room-by-room to minimise disruption, which adds 1–2 days. For empty properties, we can work faster as there's no furniture to protect and we can cut channels more aggressively.

Signs Your Blackpool Home Needs Rewiring

If your home was built before 1970 and hasn't been rewired, it almost certainly needs it. Other signs include: old rubber or fabric-insulated cables, a fuse board with rewirable fuses, only one or two sockets per room, round-pin sockets, no earth wires on lighting circuits, frequent blown fuses, and an EICR with C1 or C2 codes. Many Blackpool terraced houses built in the 1900s–1950s still have original wiring that is well past its safe lifespan.

Can I Live in the House During a Rewire?

Yes, but it's not pleasant. The power will be off for most of the day, walls will be channelled (creating dust), and rooms will be out of use while we work. Most homeowners choose to stay elsewhere for the duration, especially for larger properties. If you must stay, we'll work room-by-room and restore power each evening. We always protect floors and furniture with dust sheets and clean up thoroughly at the end of each day.
